Intermountain Healthcare Board Selects Scott Anderson as New Chairman, Bruce Reese as Vice Chairman

SALT LAKE CITY--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Intermountain Healthcare’s Board of Trustees has named Utah business leaders Scott Anderson as chairman and Bruce Reese as vice chairman of the Intermountain Board. They succeed Kem Gardner, chairman, and Doug Black, vice chairman, who remain on the Board after completing five-year terms in those positions.

Intermountain’s Board of Trustees comprises 18 individuals who volunteer their time without pay to direct the nonprofit organization. Board members set policy, create goals, evaluate management’s performance, and ensure Intermountain operates in the best interest of the community. Board chairs are elected by the Board and typically serve five-year terms.

Scott Anderson

Anderson joined the Intermountain Healthcare Board of Trustees in 2005. He is president and chief executive officer of Zions First National Bank. Previously, he worked at Bank of America. He has a bachelor's degree from Columbia University and a master’s in International Studies from Johns Hopkins University.

Anderson has served on many boards and in leadership positions in the community, including the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco, Salt Lake Branch; Big Brothers Big Sisters Honorary Trustee; Deseret Book Company; Economic Development Corporation of Utah; Edward G. Callister Foundation, Advocates for Improved Understanding of Addictive Diseases; and many others.

Bruce Reese

Reese joined the Intermountain Healthcare Board of Trustees in 2002. He is president and chief executive officer of Hubbard Radio LLC, which operates 21 radio stations in Chicago, Washington, D.C., Minneapolis/St. Paul, St. Louis, and Cincinnati. He has held this position since Hubbard Radio’s formation and acquisition of Bonneville International in April 2011. Prior to joining Bonneville, Reese practiced law in Washington, D.C. and Denver.

Reese serves or has served on the boards of Intermountain’s Primary Children’s Medical Center, United Way of Salt Lake, The Salt Lake Chamber, Pioneer Theatre Company, Associated Press, National Association of Broadcasters, and Radio Advertising Bureau. He has bachelor and law degrees from Brigham Young University.
