NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- HMS (NASDAQ:HMSY), a wholly owned subsidiary of HMS Holdings Corp., announced today that it will serve on the Advisory Council for “Enroll America,” a non-profit organization launched on September 14, 2011 and dedicated to helping locate healthcare coverage for tens of thousands of uninsured Americans.
HMS joins a number of diverse stakeholders from within the healthcare industry to collaborate on the Enroll America mission. Participants include companies and associations representing hospitals, insurance, and pharmaceutical industries to representatives from physician, clinical, and patient organizations.
Under the terms of the Affordable Care Act, many new affordable healthcare enrollment opportunities will become available to uninsured Americans in 2014 through sliding-scale tax credits and the expansion of the Medicaid program. Enroll America seeks to help individuals discover the enrollment options that are right for them.
To achieve this goal, Enroll America will work with states to help them understand how they can simplify and streamline their healthcare enrollment processes. The organization will also coordinate an information and advertising campaign in 2013 and 2014 to ensure Americans know about the new coverage opportunities that will be available to them.
“HMS is mission-bound to ensure all Americans have access to affordable healthcare coverage,” said Bill Lucia, HMS’s Chief Executive Officer. “We have more than 30 years of healthcare experience at both the Federal and state levels, which affords us a unique perspective on eligibility and enrollment issues. We are excited about this opportunity to collaborate with other professionals in our industry to help secure coverage for the individuals in our country who need it most.”
