US News & World Report and the National Committee for Quality Assurance released their joint ranking of health plans on Monday. Coming out on top in the comprehensive listing of commercial plans: Harvard Pilgrim, Preferred Care of New York and Tufts Health Plan. While such rankings are closely followed within the industry, patients to this point haven't cared much. But they may become increasingly relevant in the age of consumer driven care as patients search for information on their healthcare options.
