WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- On Friday, November 5, at 12:30 p.m. officials from HHS’ Office of Consumer Information and Insurance Oversight will hold a press conference call to provide an update on the Affordable Care Act’s Pre-existing Condition Insurance Plan.
The Pre-existing Condition Insurance Plan provides uninsured Americans living with such conditions as cancer, diabetes, or heart disease the opportunity to obtain insurance coverage. The program covers a broad range of health benefits and is designed as a bridge to 2014, when all Americans – regardless of their health status – will have access to affordable coverage either through their employer or through a new competitive marketplace, and insurers will be prohibited from denying coverage to anyone based on the state of their health.
