Healthy nurses set exercise example for patients

Nurses who exercise promote a healthy lifestyle to their patients, according to a new study in the International Journal of Nursing Practice. "Nurses should model healthy exercise behavior," said study author Joyce Fitzpatrick, an Elizabeth Brooks Ford professor of nursing at the Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing at Case Western Reserve University.

However, nearly half of nurse respondents were overweight and obese. Researchers concluded that both patients and nurses need encouragement toward healthy weight and fitness. Press release
