HealthPoint Medical Group Selects McKesson for EHR Solution

Practice Partner®Solution to Help HealthPoint Enhance Quality, Improve Productivity

ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- McKesson announced today that HealthPoint Medical Group has chosen Practice Partner®electronic health record (EHR) solution for its employed and affiliated physicians. HealthPoint, a member of the BayCare Health System in Tampa, Fla., selected Practice Partner as a tool to better coordinate patient care and enhance communication. The medical group also plans to use the solution as part of its strategy to demonstrate meaningful use of EHRs, a requirement for receipt of incentive payments under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA).

With 118 providers and 33 practices, HealthPoint joins Morton Plant Mease Primary Care, another large employed medical group within the BayCare Health System that already uses McKesson’s Practice Partner EHR and practice management solution. Currently, more than 100,000 physicians nationwide use McKesson technology solutions.

HealthPoint plans to deploy the Practice Partner solution as part of its technology innovation strategy. The solution offers customizable workflow options as well as visibility into a patient’s chart across care settings. It is highly scalable and should easily adapt to accommodate HealthPoint’s anticipated growth.

“McKesson’s solution provides the flexibility to meet the needs of our specific medical specialties and each physician’s charting style,” said Steve Fisher, chief information officer for HealthPoint Medical Group. “With capabilities for speech recognition software, customized templates, keyboards or transcription, Practice Partner should meet the needs of all our providers.”

McKesson is working with HealthPoint to organize its system on one database, rather than individual ones for each practice. This single-database design is intended to accelerate deployment, increase physicians’ ability to access data, and enhance the organization’s ability to apply for ARRA funding.

“At McKesson, we are committed to helping innovative providers like HealthPoint understand how to become eligible for stimulus funding, and delivering the technology they need to adopt to achieve meaningful use,” said David Henriksen, senior vice president of McKesson’s Physician Practice Solutions group.

Practice Partner is part of McKesson’s comprehensive portfolio of physician solutions designed to reduce time spent on administrative tasks and help meet the needs of running a modern practice. McKesson’s offering for physician practices includes clinical and EHR software, as well as business management and connectivity solutions for health information exchange.
