Healthgrades announces winners of clinical excellence award

Healthgrades announced more than 250 recipients of its 2015 Distinguished Hospital Award for Clinical Excellence. Recipient hospitals tended to share several performance outcomes, according to a whitepaper released by the company. For example, recipients achieved superior outcomes compared to non-recipients in several cohorts, including heart failure, respiratory failure, sepsis, stroke, pneumonia and heart attacks. They also had significantly better outcomes than non-recipients for three measures of patient experience. "The superior performance observed in clinical outcomes, core process measures and patient experience within the recipient group is further validation for those hospitals that they are on the right path to achieving the goal of providing comprehensive high-quality performance care," said Evan Marks, Healthgrades' chief strategy officer.
