LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- The National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) has again awarded Health Net of California, Inc.’s commercial HMO/POS and Medicare Advantage lines of business the “Excellent” status for Health Plan Accreditation.

In addition, Health Net of California’s PPO line of business (offered by Health Net Life Insurance Company) and its Medicaid line received NCQA’s “Commendable” status for Health Plan Accreditation.
“Health Net works hard to develop effective partnerships with doctors, hospitals and other health care providers that result in quality care and services for our members,” said Neil A. Solomon, M.D., vice president and chief medical director for Health Net of California. “Our NCQA results show we are meeting and exceeding some rigorous national standards.”

Health Net of California’s and Health Net Life Insurance Company’s accreditations follow a rigorous NCQA audit conducted every three years. Health Net of Arizona’s HMO/POS products, also rated “Excellent” by the NCQA, are scheduled for a 2011 audit.
Other Health Net Honors
Health Net of California also was honored earlier this month when it received the Corporate Award from California Children’s Health Initiatives for its leadership in providing coverage to children through California’s innovative Healthy Kids program.
In addition, Health Net of California received a bronze award in April 2010 from the California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) for outstanding performance in its 2009 HEDIS (Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set) outcomes, which measure the quality of care and services provided by health plans. And a Health Net of California associate was recognized by the DHCS for his outstanding contribution to quality improvement efforts in the Medi-Cal managed care program.
