HBMA Announces Details of the 2010 EHR Summit

LAGUNA BEACH, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Healthcare Billing & Management Association (HBMA), a non-profit educational resource and advocacy group representing third-party medical billers and billing professionals, today announced details of the association's second annual EHR Summit, which will be held at the Phoenician Resort in Scottsdale, Arizona, November 17-19, 2010.

"HBMA understands that this is a challenging business climate for medical billing professionals looking to capitalize on legislative and regulatory changes without losing their competitive edge," said Patrick Lukacs, Chair of HBMA's EHR Committee. "The dual-track format of this year's EHR Summit is an exciting new direction for our event, and one that will benefit both those who have yet to select an EHR vendor and those looking to maximize existing EHR-partner relationships."

Featuring three general sessions and ten concurrent sessions along two tracks, the program is designed to meet the educational needs of both first- and third-party medical billers, regardless of their organization's current EHR system/model. Track A of the summit has been designed for medical billing professionals looking to select and partner with an EHR vendor that best matches the needs of their organization. This track will provide participants with tools for better vendor evaluation and selection; business model development and project management; and legal contracting analysis. Alternatively, Track B of the summit is ideal for those who have already selected a vendor but are looking for the latest insights into implementation strategies, market opportunities, data migrations and interfaces; lab, imaging and eRX integration; e-discovery and medical legal issues; and the latest industry updates on HIEs and RECs."

Mark Anderson, FHIMISS, CPHIMS from the AC Group will present the opening keynote address, "The BIG Picture of EHR's," and will be on-hand for all three days to lead discussions as well as meet with individual attendees. In addition to the educational sessions, the summit will feature ten nationally recognized EHR vendors to provide onsite product demonstrations and answer questions about the technology.
