Harvard team develops new stem cell technique

A team at Harvard University announced on Sunday that it has managed to fuse skin cells with stem cells, theoretically clearing the way for the manufacture of stem cell lines which do not require the use of human eggs or the destruction of embryos. Is this merely the latest in a series of attempts to come up with an acceptable scientific solution to a political stand off, or a real break-through? The researchers behind the report caution that the advance is "not yet ready for prime time."
