Greenway Selected by Health Information Exchanges and Regional Physician Groups

PrimeSuite Endorsements Driven by Superior Data Exchange, Interoperability Features

CARROLLTON, Ga., Aug. 31 /PRNewswire/ -- Greenway Medical Technologies, Inc. today announced that four additional Health Information Exchange (HIE) programs, Independent Physician Associations (IPA) and regional medical centers have selected PrimeSuite®, the company's integrated electronic health record (EHR) practice management and interoperability solution, to connect group practices and streamline clinical, financial and administrative functions.

"Greenway is very gratified to be selected by this wide variety of healthcare organizations that recognize PrimeSuite's ability to meet their data exchange and interoperability needs," said Greenway President and CEO Tee Green. "Healthcare leaders are realizing the requirements of interconnected patient care, quality data exchange and data liquidity, and Greenway has built its platform from the ground up based on these critical functionality and interoperability goals."

The endorsements announced today include:

  • Marion County Medical Society/Healthy Ocala HIE, Marion County, Fla.
  • Central Jersey Health Information Exchange Project, Middlesex County, N.J.
  • The 1200-member Highlands Physicians, Inc. IPA, Kingsport, Tenn.
  • Southern Ohio  Medical Center/SOMC Medical Care Foundation, Portsmouth, Ohio

The Marion County Medical Society has endorsed PrimeSuite to 500 physicians practicing within the newly-established Healthy Ocala HIE throughout Marion County, Fla.

"The versatility of Greenway's EHR was a deciding factor in our analysis," said David Willis, MD, medical director of Healthy Ocala. "PrimeSuite also has the ability to satisfy a variety of specialties and the data exchange option to tie practices together and share information."

The Society and HIE providers are affiliated with the Ocala Regional Medical Center, West Marion Community Hospital and the Monroe Regional Medical Center.

"Medical Society members, our regional centers and all of our practicing physicians know that with our proportion of Medicare-eligible patients seeing multiple doctors, it's important to coordinate care plans and share information," added Willis. "Meaningful use is very important to us to help facilitate, through the Society and PaperFree Florida REC, a system in which we can all help each other pursue best practices."

The Central Jersey Health Information Exchange Project (CJHIEP), a physician-led HIE, selected PrimeSuite as a preferred EHR for its private physicians practicing in Middlesex County, N.J.

"The CJHIEP group reviewed more than 20 products in depth, and we believe our selections have uniquely desirable strengths and offer value in usability and affordability, and we are recommending to our members the use of a remote hosting model," said CJHIEP Co-managing Director and board member Andrew B. Covit, MD.

The Central Jersey HIE's deployment goals include connecting physician offices with regional hospitals, labs, radiology clinics and other healthcare facilities; pursuing group purchasing to establish a sustainable HIE; and generating data that improves the quality and efficiency of patient care.

The 1200-member Highlands Physicians, Inc. IPA of Kingsport, Tenn. has endorsed PrimeSuite to its practicing physicians throughout Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia.

"We analyzed a dozen EHRs with a team of clinicians and IT staff and found that the Greenway EHR had a high level of certification and KLAS scores, and was designed to cover the full spectrum," said Highlands Executive Director Brant Kelch. "We have a mix of about 60 percent specialty and 40 percent primary care practices."

The IPA also owns 50 percent of an area Physician Hospital Organization (PHO) in a partnership with Wellmont Health System.

"The right EHR is important to us for information exchange combined with a good practice management system to automate our pay-for-performance programs and the variety of internal performance metrics we utilize," added Kelch.

Southern Ohio Medical Center, a 222-bed hospital in Portsmouth, Ohio, has endorsed the implementation of PrimeSuite to its hospital-owned and private physician practices within the SOMC Medical Care Foundation.

"In the end, Greenway stood out as a company with the vision and agility to keep up in this fast-paced industry," said SOMC Director of Physician Services Ben Gill. "Greenway has also built a stellar reputation among their current users, ranking best in the country in customer satisfaction scores. Our goal is to create an integrated healthcare system that will allow sharing of data among participating physician offices and healthcare facilities and also lead to improved patient care by reducing the chance of documentation and medication errors."
