'Gene doping' may become next steroid

Of late, we've heard plenty about athletes who (allegedly) used steroids to bulk up and gain a competitive edge. Soon, however, steroids may be so passé, with the emergence of a new practice named "gene doping." Gene doping is the practice of injecting the body with a gene that triggers growth in specific tissues, such as muscle, without producing any chemicals that might be detected by sports authorities. While no one's sure how often this might be happening, scientists predict that in time it may become common. Blog
