'Gene doping' may become next steroid

Of late, we've heard plenty about athletes who (allegedly) used steroids to bulk up and gain a competitive edge. Soon, however, steroids may be so passé, with the emergence of a new practice named "gene doping." Gene doping is the practice of injecting the body with a gene that triggers growth in specific tissues, such as muscle, without producing any chemicals that might be detected by sports authorities.
