Company offers convenient immunization options in 25 states
EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- To ensure its customers remain healthy this flu season, SUPERVALU INC. (NYSE: SVU) is now administering flu vaccinations at its pharmacy locations. SUPERVALU has specially trained immunizing pharmacists available now at all pharmacy locations. This level of access, coupled with an ample supply of flu vaccine, makes it easier than ever to get vaccinated.
SUPERVALU Pharmacies operate in 25 states under 10 retail brands, including Acme Sav-on Pharmacy, Albertsons Sav-on Pharmacy, Albertsons Osco Pharmacy, Cub Pharmacy, Farm Fresh Pharmacy, Jewel-Osco Pharmacy, Shaw’s Osco Pharmacy, Shop ‘n Save Pharmacy, Shop ‘n Save Osco Pharmacy and Shoppers Pharmacy. Shots will not be administered at Save-A-Lot or Hornbacher’s.
Specially trained and certified pharmacists are currently available to administer the traditional flu vaccine, needle free FluMist® nasal spray and the Fluzone® high dose for patients ages 65 and older during regular pharmacy hours. SUPERVALU’s 800 plus pharmacy locations will be able to provide flu vaccinations daily, on a walk-in basis. In addition, some of our stores without pharmacies will host walk-in flu shot clinics. The vaccine is reasonably priced at $28.99 for either the traditional shot or the FluMist®. Fluzone® HD is available for $59.99. This cost is covered by Medicare Part B and many commercial health plans, which means many of our customers may not incur out of pocket expenses.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) believe so strongly in the value of flu vaccine that their experts recommend it for everyone over the age of 6 months and especially for higher risk populations including seniors and people with chronic health conditions.
