FDA report challenges Internet pharmacies

The Food and Drug Administration released a report on Tuesday likely to give critics of reimportation more ammunition. An agency survey of Internet pharmacies found that the majority are not located where they claim to be. The vast majority of online pharmacies calling themselves "Canadian" are located in other countries, mainly the US. Astonishingly, FDA reviewers found that more than half of 11,000 Internet pharmacies they reviewed were registered through a single company based in New England. The name of the company was not revealed. Critics called the study an effort to scare consumers away from online pharmacies for the benefit of big drug companies.
