Endocrinology Network Announces First Three Members of Editorial Board

NORWALK, Conn., Sept. 25, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- UBM Medica US announces that Endocrinology Network, an online community and information resource for endocrinologists and other clinicians who care for people with diabetes, has established an Editorial Board to help guide the new site's editorial tone and direction and contribute ideas and content.

Here are details on the inaugural Editorial Board members of Endocrinology Network:

  • Charles Shaefer, Jr, MD, is assistant clinical professor of medicine at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta. He is a member of University Primary Care Physicians, a group specializing in primary care internal medicine with a special interest in diabetes and preventive healthcare. He is a member of the editorial board of the journal Insulin. Dr Shaefer's recent contributions to Endocrinology Network include "The Safety of Incretin Therapies:Are Barriers Beginning to Fall?" and "Fix Fasting First, But What About PPG?"
  • Joseph M. Tibaldi, MD, is an assistant clinical professor of Medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College. He is in a private practice, a five-physician group, at Queens Diabetes and Endocrine Associates in Fresh Meadows, New York. Dr Tibaldi is active in diabetes clinical research and participated in the landmark ACCORD trial. He has recently published papers on insulin therapy and is a reviewer for the Journal of Diabetes and Complications. His most recent article for Endocrinology Network is "Premixed Insulin Analogs: A Case of Patient Selection."
  • Jeffrey Unger, MD, directs Unger Primary Care, a concierge medical practice in Rancho Cucamonga, CA. He also is the director of metabolic studies at the Catalina Research Institute. The research center uniquely incorporates primary care with clinical research in areas related to diabetes, sexual dysfunction, diabetic neuropathy, diabetic nephropathy, hyperlipidemia, hypertension, pain, obesity, and mental illness. Dr Unger serves on the editorial boards of Clinical Diabetes and the Journal of Family Practice.
