Dignity Health and Box Team Up to Bring New Innovation to Healthcare with Developer Challenge

Dignity Health, Box, and The Social+Capital Partnership today announced a developer challenge from the Health 2.0 Annual Conference calling for innovative health applications that will revolutionize the way physicians and hospitals educate patients. The challenge will require developers to use Box’s cloud collaboration platform to build a web or mobile application that will deliver health information and engage patients in taking a more proactive approach to their health.

The challenge winner will receive a $100,000 convertible note, a bond that can be exchanged for equal cash value, and one month office space and mentorship from The Social+Capital. Additionally, the winning application will be featured in the , receive marketing and sales support from Box, and have the opportunity to propose the product or solution to Dignity Health’s leadership as a potential pilot project.

In addition to announcing the developer challenge, Dean, Levie and Rich Roth, vice president of strategic innovation at Dignity Health will participate today in a keynote panel at the Health 2.0 conference titled “The panel focuses on how technology has begun to improve patient-provider communication, transform health care delivery and drive personalized medicine.

The Dignity Health and Box Patient Education App Challenge is open today with all submissions due by January 10, 2014. A panel of judges will review the submissions upon the submission close date and select five finalists whose app best addresses problems associated with patient education. The finalists will be announced on February 6, 2014 and will be asked to demonstrate their solution to the judges. The grand-prize winner will be revealed on March 27, 2014.
