DiabetesCare.net Launches Website Section for Healthcare Providers

Mount Laurel, NJ, April 19, 2011 (DiabetesCare.net) ­­- DiabetesCare.net announces the launch of its new diabetes medical provider section of the website dedicated to healthcare professionals who care for PWD. By simply typing DiabetesCare.net into any web browser, then once on the website, clicking on the "Providers" tab at the top of the page, users can find daily spotlight features covering the latest treatment trends, research news, and clinical and medical research going on in the diabetes field. Stories examine a variety of topics including: translational research, local educational programs, and the development of important type 1 and type 2 initiatives to ensure both healthcare providers and PWD can gain better access to treatment as well as manage the disease more effectively.   

Additionally, there are in-depth question and answer interviews with industry leaders, researchers, clinicians, and educators. Some of the influential leaders to be featured in upcoming weeks include the American Association of Diabetes Educators' 2011 President Donna Tomky, MSN, RN, C-NP, CDE, FAADE, and National Certification Board for Diabetes Educators' 2011Chairman Samuel Abbate, MD, CDE, as well as Director of Clinical Education Programs at Joslin Diabetes Center, Melinda Maryniuk, MEd, RD, CDE   

DiabetesCare.net also features health management tools on the website allow PWD access to features they can utilize anytime, including a Nutrition Tracker, Blood Glucose Tracker, A1C Converter,  Exercise Tracker , and our new Carb Planning Tool, to name a few. People have the ability to not only track the carbohydrates in a given food, they can meal plan, and keep a caloric database, which they can then send as reports to their diabetes educator ahead of scheduled appointments.  

In the coming months, DiabetesCare.net will provide additional resources such as hosting interactive forums that will raise important issues ranging from reimbursement questions to access issues to care challenges.

The figures from the CDC's latest findings in January show that diabetes affects 25.8 million Americans, which equates to 8.3% percent of the population.
