David Pizzo Appointed Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida Market President - West Florida

TAMPA, Fla., May 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida (BCBSF) today announced that David Pizzo has been appointed Market President - West Florida, effective immediately.

Pizzo has served in a number of leadership roles during his tenure with BCBSF including, most recently, vice president, advertising, brand management and market communications.

In his new role, Pizzo will be responsible for BCBSF business operations in Hillsborough, Pasco, Pinellas, Hernando and other western counties south to Collier.

"Dave's extensive background in marketing, sales and market intelligence leadership will enable the West coast team to continue providing health benefit solutions for employers of all sizes in the West coast market," said Jonathan Anderson, BCBSF vice president, local markets. Prior to joining BCBSF in 1997, Pizzo served as senior vice president and management supervisor for Commonhealth, at the time the world's largest health care marketing communications firm. His background includes 24 years experience in the health industry including marketing, advertising, brand strategy and sales. Pizzo began his career in health care as a pharmacist in 1982, joining E.R. Squibb & Sons in 1983 as a professional sales representative. He later moved into health care-related advertising and communications in New York and New Jersey.

Throughout his career, Pizzo has been active in community and civic organizations. He worked with the United Way of Northeast Florida, has served as a member of the board of directors and co-chaired the 1999 United Way campaign for BCBSF. Pizzo is an active member of the Gator Bowl Association and served on the Jacksonville XXXIX Super Bowl Host Committee.

Pizzo holds a Bachelor of Science in pharmacy from Rutgers University and a Master of Business Administration in marketing and international business from New York University.
