CSI plan stresses financial incentives for IT adoption

A federal panel has released its recommendations on steps the government should take to encourage the growth of a secure national electronic medical records system. The Commission on System Interoperability released a 14-point list of suggestions yesterday. Topping the list of policy recommendations are financial incentives for physicians and other healthcare providers to adopt EMR technologies and the creation of a single entity to oversee standards in the emerging field.
