MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- The Community Health Information Collaborative (CHIC) has announced the consolidation of its business operations with Minnesota Health Information Exchange, LLC (MN HIE). The consolidation is intended to provide better support for Meaningful Use criteria and minimize expenses surrounding infrastructure costs for HIE across Minnesota. A Letter of Intent was executed by CHIC and MN HIE in June 2011 with CHIC becoming the surviving legal entity.
The consolidation of CHIC and MN HIE will result in a single State-Certified HIO, HIE-Bridge™. HIE-Bridge currently serves 10 hospitals, 50 clinics, two long-term care facilities and three federally-qualified healthcare clinics. Services following the consolidation include access to clinical summary information, immunization information, patients’ prescription medication history and eligibility information.

CHIC is one of 14 production Participants on the Nationwide Health Information Network (NHIN), utilizing the ApeniMED Platform for NHIN Exchange and Direct Project solutions and services, as well as core HIE technologies including clinical (CCD) interoperability and exchange. Additionally, CHIC is working with the U.S. Veterans Administration (VA) to utilize Virtual Lifetime Electronic Records for veterans.
