CMS extends hospital quality reporting deadline

Hospitals submitting first-quarter data for the inpatient quality reporting program received a short reprieve this week when the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid moved the deadline to submit the required data from Aug. 15 to Aug. 23, according to AHA News Now. CMS pushed back the deadline for both clinical and healthcare-associated infection data because of data submission issues. The extension follows a July report from the AHA in which the hospital group called the government's electronic clinical reporting process "not sustainable." News brief
