Cielo MedSolutions Announces Partnership with MyCareTeam

Ann Arbor, MI (PRWEB) September 17, 2009 -- Cielo MedSolutions LLC, a leading provider of clinical quality management systems for ambulatory care providers and MyCareTeam, a provider of diabetes management solutions, today announced a partnership to provide a unique solution for managing patients with diabetes.

Through this partnership, MyCareTeam's award-winning solution for remotely monitoring glucose levels across the Internet will be connected to Cielo Clinic, allowing providers to receive a patient's home-measured glucose readings directly into Cielo Clinic's registry. Providers will also be able to directly enroll patients in MCT-Diabetes, a patient-facing web-based diabetes management tool.

Dave Morin, President and Chief Executive Officer of Cielo noted "We feel strongly that the data from home devices, like glucose meters, needs to get in the hands of care providers. We're excited to be able to offer this unique connectivity into our registry. This sort of functionality is important in a high-performing patient-centered medical home."

"Extending our data into other solutions makes MCT-Diabetes even more valuable", said James Mingle, CEO of MyCareTeam, "Cielo's solution for disease management is a natural destination for the data that we are collecting, and our diabetes management tool is a great extension of the work being done by Cielo Clinic."

A recent study published in the May 2009 issue of Diabetes Science and Technology has shown that an increase in patient-health care practitioner (HCP) interaction is linked to the successful treatment and management of diabetes. When managing diabetes using software products like MCT-Diabetes to modify behavior, patients generally enjoy better health than those who do not. In fact, the Diabetes Control and Complications Trial (DCCT) study at the National Institute of Health (NIH) demonstrated that individuals with Type 1 diabetes who maintain normal blood glucose levels can slow the onset and progression of eye, kidney, and nerve diseases caused by diabetes.
