Chutes & Ladders: MedSphere names Kizer CEO

MedSphere has named Kenneth Kizer as CEO. Interim CEO Larry Augustin, the open-source pioneer who helped found VA Linux, moves to the board. Kizer has served for the last six years as president and CEO of the National Quality Forum. During his years at the VA health system, Kizer played a major role in developing Open-Vista, the popular electronic medical records system on which MedSphere's system is based. The company touts its system as costing a fraction of the cost of similar efforts offered by proprietary vendors.
