Cerberus clears last regulatory hurdle to Caritas deal

No more obstacles stand in the way of Cerberus Capital Management L.P. assuming control of Boston's Caritas Christi hospital system and converting it into a for-profit company. Cerberus may now take on the assets, physician practices and six hospitals of Caritas Christi. The deal is valued at almost $900 million. The court was the last body to approve the deal. "State health officials, the Roman Catholic archdiocese and the Vatican have all blessed the transaction," writes the Wall Street Journal. The actual deal will close in coming weeks, after each side signs off on the transaction. Article
