Californians for Patient Care (CPC), a leading non-profit patient-advocacy organization headquartered in Sacramento, has issued the following statement. These remarks should be attributed to CPC president Carmella Gutierrez:

“Californians for Patient Care congratulates President Obama on his victory. Given the state of our economy, the future of healthcare was a central issue in this election. Now that the voters have spoken, much work lies ahead for the Administration and Congress to ensure that all Americans have access to high-quality, affordable healthcare.

“CPC urges President Obama and Congress to take immediate action to prevent massive cuts in the Medicare program. These cuts, if allowed to take effect on January 1, 2013, will jeopardize access to care for millions of Medicare beneficiaries. At a time when America is on the precipice of implementing significant healthcare reform through the Affordable Care Act, we must protect the ability of our seniors to continue receiving care from their doctors and other providers.”

Californians for Patient Care is a nonprofit organization based in Sacramento dedicated to protecting the interests of patients and ensuring all California consumers have fair and equitable access to high quality healthcare. For more information, visit .
