Bayfront Medical Center and Passport Collaborate to Advance OrderRite™ with Precertification

Pre-service Patient Clearance System eliminates staff labor and payment uncertainty associated with payer precertification processes

FRANKLIN, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Passport Health Communications Inc., the Patient Access Experts, announced its partnership with Bayfront Medical Center, St. Petersburg, Florida as the beta site for Passport’s newest edition to the eCare® Patient Access Suite -- OrderRiteTM with Precertification. OrderRiteTM can eliminate up to 80% of staff labor and reduce the payment uncertainty that currently exists with physician offices, clinics and hospitals in their attempt to meet health insurance pre-service requirements. OrderRiteTM is available for demonstration in the Passport booth # 3085 at the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) 2011 Annual Conference & Exhibition in Orlando, Fla., Feb. 20-24.

A persistent and growing frustration among providers is the precertification/prior authorization process, as multiple steps required, variation between payers and manual efforts are time consuming and costly.

“Health care providers and facilities are under tremendous pressure to do more with less and get it right the first time, and it all begins with the order,” said Joan Hall, Sr. Vice President of Passport’s HealthWorks Clinical Orders Division. “The need for greater efficiency and ability to be compliant with healthcare’s complex rules and regulations is critical. Our customers tell us that they need help managing their precertification process and want tools that will seamlessly integrate within their existing workflows, require minimal data entry, allow for document imaging, permit data acquisition for robust reporting and permit enterprise customization.”

Scott MacKenzie, Passport’s Chief Executive Officer added, “Having Bayfront Medical Center as a frontline partner has been instrumental in the development of OrderRiteTM. They are committed to the highest standard of care as reflected in their numerous industry awards and accreditations and are eager to respond to the growing need to integrate medicine with technology. We are honored to have them as a partner.”

OrderRiteTM offers a complete pre-service patient clearance management system. It identifies procedures/services with Medicare LCDs/NCDs, CCI, OCE, APC, OIG edits in addition to commercial payer and Medicaid medical policies. This solution quickly, and with minimal human intervention, identifies outpatient services and procedures requiring a precertification, performs follow-up precertification inquiries and updates worklists with real-time payer responses. A document image of the payer response is created while storing the precertification number, status and other critical information as discrete values. OrderRiteTM collects and automatically calculates the determination for meeting or exceeding Medicare frequency guidelines and returns the results and documents ready for patient e-signature.

Passport’s experience in integration with financial billing systems, EMR’s, scheduling, registration and order entry systems in hospitals and provider offices contributes to additional reduced user error and manual data entry, while reducing the typical burden of implementation from stretched IT resources at the site. At Bayfront Medical Center OrderRiteTM is integrated with Cerner® Millennium. A Bayfront Medical Center manager involved in the beta testing of OrderRiteTM said "Congratulations on a great product. I’m still amazed that you have been able to produce so much in such a short amount of time. It will be quite interesting to watch as your product evolves into an industry leader.”
