Baxa Announces Colorado BioScience Association Sponsorship

ENGLEWOOD, Colo., May 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Baxa Corporation announces its 2008 sponsorship for the Colorado BioScience Association (CBSA). CBSA Board Chair Jack Wheeler (founder of MicroPhage Inc.) recognized Baxa, along with the other 2008 Association sponsors, during the CBSA Annual All-Member Meeting held April 29th at the University Club in Denver. Baxa Corporation has been a member of the CBSA since its inception. Company founder Brian Baldwin was one of the founders and the first President of its predecessor organization, the Colorado Medical Device Association.

"The Colorado BioScience Association works on behalf of our industry at both the state and national level," notes Baxa Chairman and CEO Greg Baldwin of the sponsorship. "We support them because their work to grow the industry makes Colorado, and especially the Denver metropolitan area, a better place for all bioscience and medical device companies to do business."

Through the years, Baxa has provided support for CBSA events and activities without a formal sponsorship grant. The company's investment underlines its support of CBSA initiatives for industry growth, networking and professional education, as well as for the role it has played in promoting Colorado and Denver as leaders in the technology industry. In a business competitiveness report from 2004 cited on the CBSA Web site, Colorado is ranked as the #5 state and Denver as the #5 city for economic development and commitment to technology growth (http://www.cobioscience.com/factsheet.php).

In addition to publicizing the accomplishments of state bioscience companies, the Colorado BioScience Association works to develop partnerships with Colorado's life science research institutions to increase the commercialization of Colorado-based technologies. As the industry's professional voice, CBSA fosters industry growth and investment. The organizational is also a strong force in education and development for the industry.
