Avnet Technology Solutions Teams with Lincor Solutions to Provide Point-of-Care Clinical Access and Entertainment System

New agreement enables resellers to offer hospitals bedside access to electronic healthcare records, hospital information systems, patient entertainment and education, and increase hospitals’ operational efficiency and patient satisfaction

TEMPE, Ariz.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Avnet Technology Solutions, the IT solutions distribution leader and operating group of Avnet, Inc. (NYSE: AVT), today announced that it has signed a distribution agreement with Lincor Solutions (www.lincor.com) to become a high-value specialty distributor for Lincor’s hospital point-of-care clinical access and entertainment system, MEDIVista®. Under this agreement, Avnet will accelerate Lincor’s market penetration in the U.S. into the rapidly growing healthcare market through its HealthPath® practice. Avnet will distribute MEDIVista and provide integration services to qualified value-added resellers (VARs) supporting the U.S. healthcare market.

Spurred on by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), hospital IT solutions are quickly moving to point-of-patient care. The ARRA requirement for the meaningful use of electronic healthcare records requires a computing platform for clinical access where it is needed most – at the patient’s bedside. Moving computers from room to room can cause an unnecessary infection control situation, which can be solved by the MEDIVista system. The added benefit of MEDIVista is that it offers the patient entertainment, communication and educational benefits through a user-friendly touchscreen interface.

Lincor’s MEDIVista system enables secure access to electronic health records (EHR), clinical applications, language translation services, patient education, meal management and bed management at the point-of-patient care. Outside of its clinical role, patients can use its simple touchscreen interface to easily access a wealth of digital entertainment from their bedside, including television, movies on-demand, Internet, email, games, audio books, webcam and telephony.

Jim Bindon, director of Avnet Technology Solutions’ HealthPath practice, noted, “I’ve witnessed the excitement of hospital administrators when they see the bedside technology from Lincor and can say with certainty that the timing for MEDIVista for the U.S. hospital market could not be better. Lincor’s worldwide technology experience combined with Avnet’s successful track record of supporting healthcare technology suppliers through our strong VAR network provides an excellent foundation for this new relationship. The versatile platform of MEDIVista will give healthcare providers the flexibility to expand the hospital’s bedside access to the divergent and ever-changing solutions being offered to hospitals’ IT departments.”

Lincor’s MEDIVista system will be incorporated into complete technology solutions provided through Avnet’s HealthPath practice. HealthPath enables VARs to deliver industry-specific solutions that meet the business needs and industry requirements of today's hospitals, clinics and managed care facilities. Avnet HealthPath is a part of the company’s SolutionsPath® methodology, which helps VARs rapidly enter and specialize in complex, high-growth markets.

Commenting on Avnet’s agreement with Lincor, Richard Cooke, chief executive officer of Lincor Solutions, said, “Avnet Technology Solutions’ focus on the healthcare market through its HealthPath practice gives us the support and resources we need to scale our business in the U.S. hospital market. With the incredible value of secure access to clinical information systems at the patient’s bedside, this relationship between Avnet and Lincor provides the ideal operational platform to successfully deliver the MEDIVista solution nationwide.”

Lincor’s MEDIVista System has an install base of over 20,000 units in 16 countries worldwide. Lincor opened its U.S. office in Alpharetta, Ga. in May of 2010.
