OAKLAND, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- SuiteMed™, a leader in ambulatory clinical systems, today announced that Arizona Health-e Connection has named SuiteMed a preferred vendor in its Vendor Alliance Program. The Arizona Regional Extension Center (REC) exists to improve health care in Arizona through advancing electronic health records (EHRs). As a qualified Tier-2 vendor, SuiteMed will provide comprehensive services to help Arizona providers demonstrate meaningful use of electronic health records (EHRs).

RECs were created under the Health Information Technology Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act, part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. Under the HITECH Act, $677 million is allocated during the next two years to support a nationwide system of RECs. This will bring together group practices, critical access hospitals, community health centers and related healthcare organizations through sustainable two-year grants.
Additionally, the HITECH Act also created the Medicare and Medicaid EHR incentive programs, which will provide incentive payments to eligible professionals and hospitals that demonstrate meaningful use of certified EHRs.
