Regional Cancer Care Associates LLC - Central Jersey Division, a member of one of the nation’s largest oncology physician networks, has been recognized by the world’s leading oncology professional organization for providing the highest-standard of cancer care. This is the first and only oncology private practice in New Jersey to receive the Quality Oncology Practice Initiative (QOPI) Certification by the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO).

“We choose to participate in ASCO’s rigorous voluntary assessment and improvement program to reinforce that we are providing the highest-quality care,” said Bruno S. Fang, M.D., Member of Regional Cancer Care Associates. “It is an honor to be officially recognized for our hard work and best practices for outpatient cancer care.”

QOPI was developed by ASCO to help hematology-oncology and medical oncology practices assess the quality of care they provide to patients. Through the QOPI program, practices abstract data from patients’ records up to twice per year and enter this information into a secure database.

Launched in 2010, the QOPI Certification Program (QCP) has certified more than 150 practices. This certification for outpatient oncology practices is the first program of its kind for oncology in the United States. The QCP seal designates those practices that not only scored high on the key QOPI quality measures, but also meet rigorous safety measures established by ASCO and the Oncology Nursing Society.

“The quality of care is one of the most important aspects of a successful cancer treatment outcome,” said Ellen Ronnen, M.D., Member of Regional Cancer Care Associates. “Our patients can be assured they will receive the highest-quality cancer care available.”

To become certified, practices have to submit an evaluation of their entire practice and documentation standards. The QCP staff and steering group members then verify through on-site inspections that the evaluation and documents are correct and that the practices meet core standards in all areas of treatment, including:

“Oncology practices that are committed to quality and safety are those that provide the most optimal cancer care,” said ASCO Immediate Past President Sandra M. Swain, MD, FACP. “ASCO’s quality programs are designed by leaders in the profession and give practices the ability to continuously improve the quality of care they provide. The QOPI Certification Program helps practices determine whether they are providing the best treatment and care possible to their patients, and demonstrates a commitment to excellence and ongoing quality improvement in the hematology-oncology outpatient practice.”

“I would like to congratulate the physicians and staff of Regional Cancer Care Associates - Central Jersey Division for receiving this prestigious and well-deserved recognition, “said Andrew Pecora, M.D., F.A.C.P., C.P.E., President of Regional Cancer Care Associates. “Their commitment to cancer care embodies our mission to provide patients access to the highest-quality, cutting edge treatments in a compassionate setting.”
