  • Integration between the pager replacement solution and existing mission-critical communication systems yields speed and accuracy benefits enterprise wide

MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Amcom Software, Inc. today announced that Amcom Mobile Connect now offers smartphone messaging for the iPhone. Highly mobile physicians and other staff can use this solution to consolidate the messages they currently receive on Wi-Fi phones, cell phones, voice communication badges, and/or traditional pagers with a single smartphone. This simplifies the process of communicating code alerts, patient updates, lab results, consult requests, and more in an effort to speed messaging and strengthen the speed of patient care.

Amcom’s new support for the iPhone comes on the heels of a tremendous swell in sales for Mobile Connect, which also supports messaging to Android and BlackBerry smartphones. While ease of messaging to these smartphones is important, Amcom customers have also been clear that they want a single, integrated system that can send messages to a variety of smartphones as well as pagers, Wi-Fi phones, and other devices. For example, an operator or other staff member can send a single message to a code team, and every member receives the same message simultaneously regardless of the devices they carry.

To facilitate this, Amcom Mobile Connect integrates seamlessly with Amcom’s unified communications suite. This includes solutions for contact center automation, online employee directories and on-call schedules, and event notification systems, to name a few. Integration with related communications systems means everything pulls contact and schedule information from a central database, improving administration, accuracy, escalation procedures, and above all—speed. Alternately, a hospital could use a simple, stand-alone Web portal to deploy communications from Amcom Mobile Connect.

Throughout the communication process, Mobile Connect provides message traceability to ensure staff accountability and effective workflow. All messages, responses, and read receipts are logged in a full audit trail that simplifies reporting. In addition, Mobile Connect ensures that messages are delivered in a secure manner to help organizations meet security requirements such as HITECH/HIPAA.

“Even if a hospital provides a certain type of smartphone to its staff, there are always physicians and others who aren’t employed by the hospital yet who need to receive critical messaging,” said Chris Heim, CEO, Amcom Software. “We’re pleased to offer a highly flexible solution that works with iPhone, BlackBerry, and Android smartphones regardless of the cellular service provider behind the scenes. This means happier staff members who can use their preferred devices for all messages as well as a safer workplace in which integrated communications systems ensure patient safety.”
