Alabama's Baptist Health System and Aegis Health Group Partner to Address Local Employers Health-Management Concerns

NASHVILLE, Tenn., April 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Baptist Health System, one of Alabama's largest healthcare systems, has begun working with Nashville-based Aegis Health Group to bring together the health-improvement needs of local employers and their employees with the healthcare resources available at its four hospitals. Aegis brings nearly 20 years' experience assisting hospitals in aligning their programs and services with the unique healthcare needs of area employees.

Aegis' program includes an on-site employer relations specialist and proprietary software that identifies health risks based on information provided by employees and enables employers to predict future health-related costs if current health risks go unmitigated. Participating employees gain access to appropriate early detection, prevention and education initiatives offered by Baptist's hospitals.

Through this partnership, it is expected that employee health will be improved and employer healthcare costs reduced. Employers participating in these programs repeatedly recognize significant dollar savings in employee health costs, absenteeism, healthcare premiums, workers' compensation and other healthcare-related expenditures. Aegis' program can currently be found in more than 4,000 employer sites across the country.

"As one of Alabama's larger employers, we are all too aware of the financial challenges of rising health-related costs," said Ross Mitchell, vice president of communications and government relations for Baptist Health. "We want employers to know that as their healthcare partner they can turn to us for both 'health' and 'care.'"
