The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) will offer a series of grants up to $1.5 million to develop patient safety initiatives for ambulatory care and long-term care facilities, the agency announced this week. The AHRQ is particularly interested in settings that provide care to vulnerable, underserved populations, with particular emphasis on: factors contributing to medical errors; evidence-based systems to avoid adverse events; the transition from long-term care to inpatient and outpatient settings; and coordination/continuity of care.
