Accretive Health, Inc. (NYSE:AH), a healthcare technology and services company, today announced the launch of their Intra-Stay Quality (ISQ) Offering developed to enable U.S. healthcare providers to transition to a value based payment system focused on enhancing the patient experience in the acute care setting and the level of quality care delivered with improved efficiency. ISQ is designed to optimize quality and financial results for each inpatient visit by providing process improvements through technology, enhanced physician engagement with data-driven insight, and skilled resources.
Tim Barry, President of Accretive Health’s Quality business said, “We are delighted to announce the launch of the ISQ Offering and the signing of our inaugural client, a multi-billion-dollar hospital system. ISQ optimizes quality and financial results in the acute care setting which is the most costly component of healthcare, and will enable our clients to improve quality and unleash value within and across episodes of care.
“The ISQ business introduces innovative processes and technology support enabling physicians to dramatically improve the patient experience and engages all members of the clinical team with the patient to develop a comprehensive plan of care that promotes health and wellness while addressing the acute condition in order for the patient to return safely back to the home or community setting. Our ISQ Offering is a prelude for hospitals and healthcare systems that are moving toward bundled payments and better integration of the care occurring between the outpatient and inpatient setting.
“Our commitment to being innovative leaders in the transformation of our Nation’s healthcare system is emphasized in the investment we have made in our ISQ Offering. We are dedicated to drive innovation that will enable our clients to improve outcomes, create positive patient experiences and reduce the cost of care delivery,” concludes Tim Barry.
“With the extreme reimbursement pressures that hospitals and healthcare professionals face, there is a growing need for more efficient delivery of healthcare services. Collaborating on the ISQ Offering in acute care settings will allow our clients to improve health outcomes while reducing inefficiencies and redundancies in associated medical costs. ISQ provides the tools to enable physicians to better care for patients with complex health conditions and improve the patient’s level of understanding associated with their condition while assuring community based resources are available for them upon discharge.
“We anticipate strong results with our inaugural ISQ client who experienced positive results in a pilot with this offering earlier this year. This new client collaboration will deploy technology and process infrastructure across this client’s healthcare system, positively impacting more than 70,000 medical and surgical inpatient visits annually throughout the communities they serve,” said Mary Tolan, Founder and CEO of Accretive Health.
Dr. Walter Ettinger, Chief Medical Officer and Executive Vice President of Accretive Health said, “As a former hospital president and practicing physician, I recognize the great opportunity to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of hospital care. The development and launch of the ISQ Offering is keeping pace with the demands of the market to deliver greater value in healthcare. We are moving rapidly from a volume to value based payment system. ISQ helps hospitals to partner with physicians to eliminate waste in the acute care setting. The result will be better care, as well as more time for physicians, nurses and caregivers to spend with patients.”
