Surgery charges vary widely at hospitals

Hospitals in California are all over the map in terms of what they charge for surgeries, according to a new report from the CALPIRG Education Fund. The highest-priced hospitals charge as much as 2.7 times that of the lowest-priced facilities, according to the report, with hospitals in the Bay Area likely to be the most expensive. However, in some other regions, nearby hospitals often charged multiples of what a neighboring facility might bill for a relatively routine procedure such as a Cesarean section birth. --Read the full article from FierceHealthcare
