Despite the increasingly common seven-figure salaries and golden parachutes, many hospital CEOs are often fired from their jobs, the executive recruitment firm Witt-Kiefer told Becker's Hospital Review  CEOs receive pink slips for a variety of reasons, including losing favor with the board, or conversely, they may tell the board that the they are no longer able to lead the organization based on its current direction and their current skillsets.
