SPOTLIGHT: ONC to study consumer attitudes toward HIE

The Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology will survey 25,000 people in an attempt to understand public perception of health information exchange, as well as privacy and security of electronic health data. The results will help inform ONC policy, according to a notice in the Federal Register. "Little is known about individuals' attitudes toward health information exchange and the extent to which they are interested in determining by whom and how their health information is shared," the notice says.
