SPOTLIGHT: Hospitals ask for broad definitions so more can qualify for EMR incentives

A group of 43 hospitals and health systems have asked HHS and the White House to define "hospital" as "a discrete site of service, so that individual sites of multi-campus facilities are eligible to qualify separately for the incentives" under the federal stimulus. They also want the Obama administration to narrow the definition of "hospital-based physician" so private-practice doctors in outpatient centers owned by hospitals also can qualify separately for federal EMR subsidies.
