ONC work groups deliberate recommendations on MU Stage 2

ONC's Health IT Policy Committee work groups are finalizing their recommendations regarding the proposed rule for Stage 2 of Meaningful Use. The Quality Measure Workgroup, meeting April 23, expressed support of some provisions of the rule and concern about others, according to an iHealthBeat post. For instance, the group supported a requirement in the proposed rule calling on providers to submit 12 clinical quality measures out of 125, one of which would need to apply to six domains--care coordination, clinical process/effectiveness, efficient use of health resources, patient and family engagement, patient safety, and population and public health. The Information Exchange Workgroup, which met April 24, noted concerns regarding the threshold numbers for transition of care summaries and e-prescribing, among others. The workgroups are slated to make their recommendations to the full Policy Committee May 4. Public comments on the rules are due May 7. Post
