ONC wants 'accelerators' to help with HIE development

The Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT is accepting fellowship applications to help the agency "accelerate" health information exchange (HIE). The fellows, to be called "external accelerators" will help ONC internal staff develop two particular "plug and play" tools: "Health Information Service Provider in a box," to deliver turn-key operations of the Direct Project's reference implementation; and "Admission Discharge Transfer (ADT) Alerts in a box," to automate those activities from an inpatient facility to the patient's designated provider or care team.

The fellowship will last six to 12 months. ONC is looking for candidates with experience in product development, leadership and problem solving. The deadline for applying is Aug. 16.  Announcement
