ONC names two more EMR certification bodies

There are now five organizations approved to certify EHR systems for the federal incentive program, as the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology has named ICSA Labs, Mechanicsburg, Pa., and Denver-based SLI Global Solutions as authorized testing and certification bodies. ICSA is an independent division of independent division of Verizon Business that certifies electronic security tools, while SLI provides technology risk assessment services. The two new entities join the Certification Commission for Health IT (CCHIT), the Drummond Group and InfoGard Laboratories as EMR certifiers under ONC's temporary certification program, which runs through the end of 2011.
