We are sad to report the sudden death of Janice Simmons, a longtime healthcare reporter and the editor of FierceEMR. Janice, who lived in Alexandria, Va., died on Monday, Aug. 15, 2011, at the age of 54.
Janice has been a fixture on the healthcare business-to-business news beat for many years. Before joining Fierce, she worked as a senior editor at HealthLeaders Media and was the longtime editor of The Quality Letter for Healthcare Leaders, published by Lippincott, Williams & Wilkins. We miss her already and send our deepest condolences to Jan's husband, James Sweeny, and their son Alex. A memorial service will be held on Friday, Aug. 19 in Alexandria, Va.
