The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services has issued a new fact sheet on the 2016 Meaningful Use payment adjustment for eligible hospitals.
Eligible hospitals in the Medicare incentive program not meeting Meaningful Use are subject to a payment adjustment beginning Oct. 1, 2015. The adjustment is a reduction in the applicable percentage increase to a hospital's inpatient prospective payment system rate. The percentage decrease is 25 percent in 2015, 50 percent in 2016 and 75 percent for 2017 and beyond.
An eligible hospital that received a Medicare payment adjustment letter for 2016 can apply for reconsideration between Oct. 1 and Nov. 30, 2015. Fact sheet (.pdf)
