The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services has issued guidance to help eligible hospitals (EHs) and eligible professionals (EPs) who are part of larger entities or who practice in multiple locations and participate in the Meaningful Use program. CMS has released information to enable EHs in health systems and EPs in group practices to submit Meaningful Use attestations through batch reporting, a new reporting method for 2014 that allows submission of the attesting in one file. The incentive payments would still be provided to the individual EH or EP.
CMS has also released a tip sheet for EPs working in multiple locations. The tip sheet includes guidance on calculating patient encounters and what to do when different menu objectives and clinical quality measures are chosen across locations.
