Canada claims more than 1 million uses of health IT

Clinicians and patients have used electronic health records systems and other health information technologies more than one million times, according to the Canada Health Infoway. The tally is part of an innovation challenge to accelerate the use of EHRs and other e-tools. The uses recorded include use of EHRs and clinical decision support by providers, access by patients to their electronic records, and use of health IT to schedule appointments. The Infoway is offering awards to teams whose health IT solutions are used the most and the ones with the strongest growth in use. Announcement
