AHIMA to help with EHR loans; Meaningful Use dollars stave off major layoffs;

> The American Health Information Management Association and the Delta Regional Authority are teaming up on a project to spur electronic health record adoption in the Delta region. DRA will provide microloans to eligible providers to be used as a down payment on an EHR system. AHIMA will provide EHR education and help with provider recruitment. Article

> EHR vendor contracts need to address exit procedures so that providers and their data are protected with the vendor contract ends, according to attorney William O'Toole, O'Toole Law Group, Duxbury, Mass. For instance the contract must specify that the provider, not the vendor, owns the data and that the vendor will transition the data to the replacement vendor. Article
