R. Todd Hurst, MD, FACC, FASE, is a board-certified cardiologist, director of the Center for Cardiovascular Health  at Banner – University Medicine Heart Institute, and associate professor of medicine at the University of Arizona. Realizing that most heart disease is preventable changed his life and the way he practices medicine. His goal is to help people understand the power they have to avoid the most feared diseases such as heart attacks, strokes, and dementia.

Originally from New Mexico, he completed his residency and fellowship at the Mayo Clinic Arizona. Before joining his current practice, he spent 12 years at the Mayo Clinic Arizona, where he was an associate professor of medicine in the Mayo Clinic School of Medicine, founding director of the Heart Health and Performance Program, and the Carla J. and Russell P. Paonessa Chair, Wellness and Health Education. He has written more than 50 publications in peer-reviewed journals and regularly speaks nationally and internationally at medical meetings, primarily on the prevention of heart disease.
