Zuckerman pledges $100 million to Sloan-Kettering

New York Daily News publisher Mort Zuckerman has pledged $100 million to Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. The donation is one of the largest ever to a U.S. hospital. The hospital will name its new research center on the Upper East Side for Zuckerman, who says he became interested in cancer research "after a lot of people very close to me in a very short period had cancer." The Chronicle of Philanthropy reports that the Sloan-Kettering endowment stands at $2 billion, trailing only Shriner's Hospital for Children in Tampa.
