Anne: I have been meaning to write this note for some time now - I want to say how much I appreciate your viewpoint and opinion. I work in state government, and that perspective sometimes limits my view. Thanks for all your work at keeping us connected to the big picture, not just our little cul-de-sac.
You should seriously think about turning this little essay into an editorial for a larger outlet -- Wall Street Journal, Newsweek, etc.
It is criminal what these insurance companies do to PAYING policyholders who make mistakes or overlook some line on a form. Hey, a lot of these people are truly sick and distracted by pain and worry. No one condones fraud, but There should be a "good faith" assumption when serious illness is a factor. At the very least, these cases should go to impartial arbitration.
