While it's not clear how, if at all, this might have affected his performance, it's beginning to look like a personal relationship may have lead to WellPoint CFO David Colby's ouster. Only days after a California woman filed suit against him, claiming that he had promised to give her his $4 million mansion, Colby was out the door. Colby is still married to his second wife, though he's engaged in divorce proceedings. An attorney for the woman, Rita DiCarlo, has demanded that WellPoint to preserve and turn over potential evidence, include company devices such as BlackBerry devices, cell phones and his desktop PC. The attorneys say Colby had sent DiCarlo hundreds of e-mails and text messages. WellPoint, for its part, continues to be silent on the issue of why it let Colby go.

We want e-mail details!

The e-mails must have been pretty racy/slimy/explicit for the CFO to have been fired.

Maybe the girlfriend can sell her story to Larry Flynt and Hustler magazine?
